The Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) is an evidence-based research and training Centre based at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya. Our mission is to study, create, and share knowledge on the development of intellectual property and information technology, especially as they contribute to African Law and Human Rights.
Our team is multidisciplinary, drawn from law, political science, computer science and development, and uses diverse methodological approaches to inform debates on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) applications and regulation and educate and influence relevant stakeholders on attendant Intellectual Property (IP) and human rights issues.
To provide a critical and in-depth understanding of the laws and policies on intellectual property and information technology through the promotion of scholarship, research and training in the field.
To be the leading research and training Centre in the field of intellectual property and information technology in the Global South.
